On the walk home

Cityscapes cut out of jagged skyline
Sky like black silk, stained with iodine
Heard a scream from east to the street
A cat’s eyes close and fade like mist
A’capella from street crossing alarms
Theatre lighting from fluorescent streetlights
The chill snaps into my skin, rain on my neck
Walking home from our last rights
Bruised knees and smiling eyes
Droning noises and ambient ties
Ringing ears of thumping past screamed anthems
Under iodine stained black silk skies
